Judges chosen to hear case of contested Lynchburg Republican primary

Peter Alexander, who lost last month’s Republican primary for a city council seat to incumbent Chris Faraldi, is seeking to have the results thrown out.

Alexander sued Faraldi in Lynchburg Circuit Court, seeking to have the primary declared invalid; Alexander argued that the results do not take into account 125 absentee ballots.

Faraldi’s attorney, Zach Werrell, said in court Monday that there is “no basis” for Alexander’s claim and that the 125 ballots are included in the election results. Faraldi filed a response to Alexander’s lawsuit asking the court to dismiss the case.
