Meet Zachary Werrell, Esq.
Hello, I’m Zachary Werrell, the founder and principal attorney at Blue Ridge Law, PLLC.
I founded Blue Ridge Law to serve the people of central Virginia. My goal is to provide this community with top-notch legal services, at affordable prices, with the highest-quality customer service.
I pride myself on winning and bringing a multifaceted, interdisciplinary approach to solving your legal problems—big or small.
As a graduate of the esteemed University of Texas School of Law, I studied under and alongside some of America’s sharpest legal minds. While at Texas Law, I focused on Property Law, Space Law, and Constitutional Law. I also served as an editor of the preeminent law journal, the Texas Review of Law and Politics, and as an officer with the Federalist Society.
I am currently licensed to practice law in Virginia and Texas.
I began my legal practice in Houston, Texas in 2023. As an associate attorney, my primary practice focused on Business Litigation, Property Litigation, Consumer Protection, and Contract Drafting—as well as moonlighting as a criminal defense attorney.
But after a year of practice in the big city, I felt called to return home. Thus, Blue Ridge Law, PLLC was born.
My career has spanned more than just the law. I have been recognized as a seasoned political and communications strategist, having won numerous successful high-profile political campaigns, including a number here in Central Virginia with former Congressman Dave Brat, former Congressman Tom Garrett, and current Congressman Ben Cline. I’ve also authored two books on campaigns and elections, most recently Werrell’s Rules of Politics, which you can purchase by clicking here.
My time in politics taught me how to think strategically and tactically, how to formulate and execute a winning plan, how to develop and communicate a winning message, and most importantly of all, how to win. Aside from my legal experience and training, I bring this wealth of experience, connections, and communications expertise to my clients, both in and out of Court. I am currently the principal political strategist at Piedmont Strategic Services, LLC.
I originally studied to be an economist at the prestigious Haverford College, specifically training in econometrics, international exchange rate determination, and economic history, as well as minoring in Political Science. My thesis, “Economic Conditions and Presidential Elections: A County Level Analysis” fused economics and political science by creating an economic model of voting behavior. This training gives me an additional a unique set of skills and perspectives: I can identify and eliminate inefficiencies arising in legal disputes, as well as do the hard calculations needed to bring you success.
I am dedicated to transforming the challenges of the legal system into strategic opportunities for my clients.
When I am not working, I enjoy playing guitar, drawing, reading military history and works of philosophy, and playing with my two cats, Buddy and Junior. You might also seem me cruising around town in my 1923 Model T!
